Hi I'm Brian,
I work with the internet.

I am a frontend and UX Designer from Denmark, now Head of Design at the Aarhus based agency No Zebra. I create digital experiences while making design and code play nice.

Apart from my work, I spend my time with our cat, geckos and my wife and daughter in a small town south of Aarhus.

User centered visual concepts

I am a problem solver at heart and at my best when visualising concepts, prototyping and creating user journeys and flows. I believe in a practical and user centered approach to my work – early alignment is key.

Since I started designing over twenty years ago, I have worked with almost every step of the website process. Today, I am Head of Design at the Aarhus based agency No Zebra and spend my days moving the UX & Design department forward and drinking a great deal of coffee.

Design for conversions

As Head of Design I work with our clients to create digital experiences that convert. Stable solutions that we continuously improve and optimise are essential.

At No Zebra, UX & Design is part of the project from the get-go. We collaborate closely with Digital Marketing and Development to make user friendly solutions.

Design systems are part of that process.

All your ducks in a row: design systems

If our professional paths have crossed at some point in the past years, you know about my passion for design systems and Atomic Design. Fractal has been one of my tools lately, and the one I used to make this site: ds.brianstefan.dk

While I was at Novicell, I wrote a blog post (in Danish) about how we worked with Atomic Design and Fractal.

Apart from being a collection of guides, standards and reusable components, a design system is also a great tool for collaboration and communication. Furthermore it can help create better user experiences, testing and more. Let's talk about design systems!

UX Jack of All Trades

So you want to buy some UX? It's a vast landscape and requires a lot of different skills, hard work and patience.

When asked about UX, I often refer to the The User Experience Wheel, trying to zoom in on what and why we want to reach a certain goal. I am a UX Jack of All Trades with a broad knowledge and the ability to bring the individual skills together – I can help with asking the right questions and decide how to go about it.

Familiy life, web and reptiles

I live with my my wife Janni our daughter and cat in a small town south of Aarhus in Denmark. I am so fortunate that my webdesigner hobby came with a job, so when I'm not with my family, I read up on work related topics and fiddle with some personal web projects.

I also spend time on one of my other passions, reptiles, and did try to become a zookeeper. That didn’t pan out, but fortunately the internet was here to stay.

And as many others, I am a Rick & Morty fan, did you know How a Plumbus is Made?
